Name tracing worksheets for Grade 1
A first grader already knows how to write their name. Now it is about speed and neatness. These sheets use the name you type, with print or pre-cursive style, and work well as a short warm-up before other writing.

In Grade 1, the name is no longer a big milestone. It is a handy piece of writing practice. Kids write it on every worksheet and notebook, so a clean, quick version saves effort all year.
Choose the hard level, with ten rows. After the first model, most of the copies are dashed or empty, so your kid writes the name from memory many times in a row. That repetition builds speed. If the page feels like too much, the medium level has fewer rows.
Watch for neatness more than speed at first. Each letter should sit on the line, with even spaces. Ask your kid to circle their best copy of the name on the page. They will often pick a better one than you would expect, and that picking trains their eye.
If your kid's school teaches pre-cursive, switch the style so the name has the small entry and exit strokes. It is a gentle step toward joined writing. Otherwise print is fine. Try the sheet as a three-minute warm-up before homework or journal time. A short, regular page does more than a long one once in a while.
