In Grade 2, multiplication is not about memorizing yet. It is about seeing that 3 groups of 5 is the same as 5 + 5 + 5. Kids at this age already know how to skip count, and that is the bridge. If your kid can count by 2s, 5s and 10s, they are ready for these sheets.
Pick the single-table sheet and choose a table in the generator. Begin with the 10 table, because the pattern is easy to see, then the 5 table, then the 2 table. At the easy level the problems run in order, from 1 times the table up to 10 times it. That order lets your kid hear the skip counting rhythm as they go.
Arrays make the idea real. Lay out 4 rows of 5 buttons or coins and ask how many there are. Then let your kid write 4 × 5 = 20 on the sheet. Seeing the objects first makes the symbols less strange.
Move to the medium level, where the problems are shuffled, once your kid answers the in-order sheet without counting aloud. The 3 and 4 tables can wait until Grade 3. A little time on three tables beats a rushed tour of ten.
