Fourth graders use times tables all day. Multi-digit multiplication, fractions and division all lean on quick recall. If your kid still counts up to find 7 × 8, every bigger problem takes much longer than it should. The goal this year is automatic answers, not just correct ones.
Start with the mixed sheet at the medium level, which draws from tables 2 to 10. Watch which facts slow your kid down. Then switch to the hard level, which brings in the 11 and 12 tables and multipliers up to 12. The up to 12 sheet gives both numbers the full range from 1 to 12.
Short and regular beats long and rare. A single sheet of sixteen problems, finished in a few minutes, is plenty. Time it if your kid enjoys that, and try to beat last week, not a stopwatch.
Hard sheets hide one factor in some problems, such as __ × 9 = 108. These link directly to division. If your kid knows 12 × 9 = 108, then 108 ÷ 9 = 12 is already in their head. Point that out and the two skills start to feel like one.
