Grade 2 is when two-digit numbers take center stage. Your child is learning to add and subtract within 100, and a mixed sheet checks that they can do both without a warm-up for each.
Choose the Addition and subtraction variant. The easy level uses friendly numbers with little or no regrouping. Medium brings in more tens and ones that need care. Hard is the real test, with problems on the same page that call for carrying in one and borrowing in the next.
Watch the switch. Kids often finish an addition, then subtract the next problem by habit, or the other way round. They also mix up which digit to take from when they borrow. Have your child write the tens and ones neatly in columns, which keeps the steps in order.
A good rhythm is one mixed sheet, then a short chat about the two that went wrong. Ask them to explain how they would do the problem now. When a medium sheet comes back nearly clean, try hard. If borrowing is still wobbly, spend a few days on the subtraction sheets by themselves first.
